Anti-Wrinkle injections (Botox/Azzalure)

Why do we get wrinkles?

As we smile, laugh, frown and raise our eyebrows, the muscles in our face contract – these repeated facial expressions cause the skin to contract and lines and wrinkles to appear.

Types of wrinkles:

Dynamic Wrinkles are lines that appear on facial movement e.g. when frowning and raising eyebrows – they are not visible when your face is at rest. By injecting specific facial muscles with Botulinum Toxin (muscle relaxant) movement is temporarily reduced. This in turn prevents the formation of lines/wrinkles and subsequently static lines.

Static Wrinkles are lines that are visible when your face is at rest. These lines are deeply engrained. It is important to recognise that these lines will not disappear – they will soften and treatment will help to prevent them from becoming more prominent. Botulinum Toxin is a muscle relaxant and therefore does not fill out static lines/wrinkles.

* Please note that some static lines may require alternative treatment options such as Dermal Fillers *

What is the best treatment?

The best treatment for fine lines and wrinkles is Muscle Relaxing Injections, also known as an Anti-wrinkle Injections – the UK’s most popular cosmetic procedure.

Low doses of the neurotoxin Botulinum Toxin Type A are administered via a series of small injections directly into specific facial muscles. This temporarily relaxes the muscle and reduces its movement which prevents dynamic lines appearing. This creates a softer facial expression, reversing signs of ageing. The overlying skin is left smooth and unable to create lines as muscular activity is reduced.

How does it work?

Chemical messages are sent between the nerves and muscles causing facial muscles to contract. Repeat contractions cause lines and wrinkles to become engrained. Treatment will block the signals between the nerves and muscles, causing the muscle to temporarily relax and stay at its resting state. On average recovery of these ‘messengers’ takes approximately 12 weeks.

Are there any side-effects?

Common side effects occur immediately after treatment and consist of redness, swelling and bruising at the site of injection. These are normal and generally resolve within a couple of days.

More serious side effects are exceptionally rare – treatment will only be carried out following a thorough medical consultation with our Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Independent Prescriber. This allows for more serious side effects to be discussed in detail before treatment is commenced.

ADVANCED ANTI-WRINKLE

Gummy smile -  £100

A gummy smile, also called ‘excessive gingival display', is when you smile and too much of your gumline is visible.

Nefertiti neck lift -£225

By relaxing the muscles in the neck (the platysma) which pulls the skin downwards, Botox is used to lift the neck and lower face, to improve lower face sagging, and give a more V-shaped and defined jawline.

Jaw slimming/ teeth grinding £150

Jawline slimming Botox is a quick, minimally invasive injectable treatment for reducing the size of the masseter muscles and delivering a slimmer and more finely contoured jawline.

Botox can be used to weaken the masseter muscle, which is the main teeth-grinding muscle, and improve the pain from teeth grinding.

Excessive sweating (underarms) £250

Botox helps reduce excessive sweating by blocking those ‘messages’. Once an area has been treated with Botox, the sweat glands will not produce sweat for up to six months.

Lip flip - £55

The 'flip' is the botox action that relaxes the muscles, causing the upper lip to curl slightly. This makes the lip appear fuller.

Eyebrow lift - £55

A Botox (Brow) Lift is the injection of Botox into the eyebrow region to cause the eyebrow to lift upwards.

Jelly roll (under eye bag) £55

Often dubbed “jelly roll Botox,” under-eye Botox is when Botox is injected where the aforementioned “jelly roll” muscle protrudes from your under-eye area.

Downturned smile £55

Botox for the downturned corners of the mouth. Treating this area can help elevate the corners of your mouth and give you a more cheerful appearance.

Dimpled chin £55

Dimpling and wrinkling in your chin can be part of the natural aging process of our face. While there’s no medical cause for concern if you have a dimply orange peel texture on your chin, you might feel self-conscious or like it makes you look older than you are.

Jowls £55

Jowls or loose skin sagging over the jawline, are a natural part of ageing – however, many people dislike the way they look. One solution is Botox injections which can temporarily reduce the look of jowls by providing a more defined jawline.
