Micro- needling

What is Micro-Needling?

Tiny needles are used to pierce the skin. This stimulates a natural healing response creating new collagen and elastin, remodelling traumatic scars, acne scars , stretch marks and improving skin quality, tone, texture and pigmentation.

How Does it Work?

When the skin is injured a repair process takes place to replace the damaged skin with new Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid which is used to heal the ‘wound’. Together these compose a healthy skin structure to provide a smoother, firmer and healthier complexion.

The Dr pen Micro-needling device creates superficial microchannels which allows topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.

What can be Treated?

• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Dull complexions
• Large open pores
• Hyperpigmentation (uneven skin tone)
• Stretch marks
• Acne scars
• Traumatic scars

Are there any side effects?

There will be some redness post treatment – the degree of redness will vary from one individual to another.
Mild redness will subside within a few hours. Moderate redness usually settles within 2-3 days to return to normal.

Although the risk is low there is always a risk of allergy or irritation from the serums/products applied to the skin and whenever the skin is broken, it carries the risk of infection.

Treatment will only be carried out following a thorough medical consultation with our Advanced Skincare Specialist who will ensure this treatment is appropriate for you. This allows side effects to be discussed in detail before treatment is commenced.

How long will the results last?

Results are achieved gradually over a period of months. We recommend a course of 3+ treatment sessions to achieve optimum results. Regular maintenance treatment will also be required to achieve the best results over a longer period of time.
